Code of Practice

In 2002 the Lord Chancellor's Department - now the Ministry of Justice, published the first 'National Standards for Enforcement Agents'.

The aim of the document was "to share, build on and improve existing good practice and thereby to raise the level of professionalism across the whole enforcement sector."

The enactment of the Tribunals, Courts and Enforcement (TCE) Act 2007 and amended through the Crime and Courts Act 2013, provided the opportunity to review, revise and expand upon the original guidance.

This was re-published in April 2014 as the ‘Taking Control of Goods: National Standards’.

CIVEA has produced its own guidance called the 'Code of Conduct and Good Practice Guide'.
